Cryptid Companions
Why hunt them when you can adopt them? Every pet purchase permanently unlocks that cryptid as a hub companion — it follows you, it lurks, it judges. Most pets can also be earned free by racking up a certain amount of Bestiary kills of that cryptid on the SMP, so buying one is the shortcut, not the only path. Cosmetic only: your companion doesn't fight, farm, or give you any edge. It's just deeply weird, and it's all yours.
